Have you ever wondered what makes SIGN Implants so special?
All SIGN Implants, including the SIGN Standard Nail, were specifically engineered for use in under-resourced locations, where electricity may not be present or reliable and where live-imaging technology may be too expensive to purchase and maintain. SIGN Nails pair with our patented targeting system, enabling orthopaedic surgeons to determine the exact location for inserting interlocking screws. Surgeons rely on the physical guidance provided by the SIGN Target Arm and Slot Finder combined with their tactile sense to ensure correct placement of SIGN Interlocking Screws.

Intramedullary Nails
SIGN Nails are intramedullary nails, meaning they are inserted into the bone canal. The SIGN Standard Nail, specifically, is held in place by up to four interlocking screws to stabilize a fractured bone and enable healing. The implant has an elegant design that allows for treatment of fractures in multiple long bones — the tibia, femur, and humerus.
SIGN ensures that injured people in developing countries are treated with implants that are of equal or higher quality as those used at the hospitals in the United States. That means we use certified medical grade stainless steel, sourced from a reliable supplier in Germany, to manufacture our implants. Additionally, each product, including the SIGN Standard Nail, is inspected by both our machinists on the floor and our quality control inspectors.
World-Class Orthopaedic Implants
We want our surgeons to know they are getting world-class orthopaedic implants, so SIGN Fracture Care International is registered with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). SIGN manufactures finished medical devices in compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations, FDA Quality System Regulation. We also maintain a quality management system that is certified to be compliant with ISO 13485:2016, an internationally recognized standard.
